The Art of Balance, Japan

APRIL 25 - MAY 3, 2019

TOKYO - 4 nights

Tokyo, Japan’s capital, a city of contradictions blending the ultramodern neon-lit skyscrapers with traditional historical temples. Tokyo leads with distinction from its classical art to cutting edge contemporary installations.

Upon our arrival we will be treated to a private contemporary Calligraphy (big brush) performance by Artist AKIBA at our Hotel.

We have scheduled a visit to Tokyo's amazing Pigment Store to stock up on art supplies and witness KAETSU who is one of Tokyo's leading Contemporary Artists perform her own contemporary Calligraphy style followed by a private 4 hour Calligraphy Workshop with her.

We will visit selected Museums and Art Galleries and enjoy gentle walks in Tokyo's Parks and Temples where we'll have the opportunity to illustrate and paint in our art journals and meditate.

We have scheduled a day trip via private transfers to the Mt Fuji region for an opportunity to photograph, sketch and paint the most iconic of Japans natural wonders and to visit the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum and Arakura Mountain Sengen Park.

KYOTO - 2 nights

Kyoto continues to embrace Japans past with its historical temples, manicured gardens, traditional tea houses and an occasional Geisha scurrying for a secret liaison. It was the capital of Japan for over a thousand years, and is still considered the heart and soul of traditional Japan.

We will stimulate our senses with an evening stroll amongst the lantern lit streets of the Gion District, filled with traditional restaurants to feast in, as well as many inspiring locations and vista's that our Art Journals will be bursting with illustrations.

We have arranged a day tour with our own private driver/transportation to visit Kyoto's Golden Pavilion, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and Shinto Shrine.

In the evenings we'll be settling in one of Kyoto's elegant havens which is a blend of Japanese contemporary and traditional design situated in a peaceful are of Gion.

Prepare to take many walks amongst the mystical settings within Kyoto with sketchbook in hand.

Our Japan Accommodation

Lodgings Tokyo / Kyoto

We have gone to great lengths to ensure your stay is in the very best of Japan's boutique style lodgings - and ensure your own private room for your evening retreat.  All rooms are beautifully designed, have comfortable queen sized beds and private ensuite.

Whilst in Tokyo we'll be residing in what is described as "An art gallery hotel" in Shiodome, central Tokyo. This significant luxury hotel promotes the works of local artists by presenting 27 guest rooms individually painted by commissioned artists.

In Kyoto we have chosen to stay at a quite Ryokan (Traditional Japanese Guest House) styled boutique hotel in the Gion district.
